DESCRIPTION: I took this photo of my 4-year old son’s toy box. I have always loved the brilliant bright colors that resonate from a toy box. It reminds me of a box of crayons spilled all over the floor in piles. One day I noticed that my son’s toy box was always the most colorful area in my apartment. There was something special about this that spoke to me. Its significance motivated me to capture its presence. The colorful possibilities that my son dug through everyday reminded me of a 3 dimensional Kaleidoscope. I was intrigued by this revelation and decided to photograph a bunch of different combinations of his toys when arranged in different ways. Not only did I see the different shapes and designs, colors and shadows that emerged from this photo shoot, but also the different personalities that became present with each different arrangement of the toys.
This particular photo I felt captured the personality of the car with the eyes. Its stunning red luster shined above the other toys and its random placement felt as if it wasn’t random at all. It felt as if the car was the showboat of the toy box and doing all it could to be the one most noticed in order to be the one chosen by the child to be played with. This then made me think of the movie Toy Story. This was a really fun photo shoot for both my 4year old son and myself. I believe this photo could look amazing in any room in the home. Its color and subject matter flatter and uplift a space. I believe it also speaks volumes regarding the people who will end up purchasing it. It really states that the innocent and fun imagination in the adult has not faded away, which is a rarity in itself.
