I wanted to create a digital oil painting that represented a back alley city scene from the 1920-1940’s. I’ve always been interested and drawn to city life and especially the back alleys in them.  This is where the poets, vagabonds, miscreants, drug deals, and crime bosses hang out.  The romantic pulse of jazz originates down these dark corridors of urban life. There is an echo of the naughty doings and happenings that travel down the side streets that aren’t possible to happen down Broadway. This is where the excited flavor of stories breed. I wanted to paint a picture of the general mood that comes over me when I think of all the experiences I’ve personally had that spawned from these parts of the city. The dim lighted tragedies and the passionate lust of forbidden skin on skin. These alleys own my spirit and probably always will. They are authentic, original, raw, and true. There is no façade about what happens down these streets. It’s real and memorable regardless of its tone. This painting is my dedication to these ghostly avenues and the stories that are made in them.
